Christmas in July

Help Us Support Loudoun's 1,500 Kids Facing Homelessness

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first-ever “Christmas in July” fundraising campaign. The goal is to fund $100 vouchers to give to children and families facing homelessness, empowering them to shop from Good Shepherd  thrift stores for needed clothing, shoes, toys, and necessary supplies.

With homelessness on the rise in Loudoun County, these vouchers will be distributed to the 1,500 children classified as homeless within the Loudoun County Public Schools system.

Throughout the month of July, Good Shepherd will host "Spirit Nights" at various local restaurants and businesses. A portion of the proceeds from these events will go directly towards funding the shopping vouchers.

Community members are encouraged to participate by dining out or shopping at participating locations. Follow us on social media and check our website for a schedule of Spirit Nights and participating venues.

In addition to the shopping vouchers, we will also set up "Angel Trees" at various community centers and partner locations. Each tree will be adorned with ornaments with a link to donate.

Here's How You Can Help:

Spread the Word!

There are 1,500 kids in Loudoun County Public Schools who are in urgent need of your support to meet their basic needs.

The more that people understand the scope of the problem and the cycle of homelessness, the more we can all work together to fix it.

Use your voice to help spread the word:

Volunteer!

To help fund our mission, Good Shepherd operates four Hope's Treasures thrift stores across Northern Virginia, which are almost exclusively dependent on material donations and volunteers.

Volunteering at donation intake or in the retail portion of the store are always critical needs, and help support the women and children in our care.

Donate!

The goal of this campaign is to raise money for vouchers to distribute to kids in crisis, and 100% of the funds raised will support that objective.

If everyone in Loudoun County threw in 30 cents, we would surpass our fundraising goal today. No amount is too small or big to meet our kids' basic needs. Please donate today

Good Shepherd Success Stories

Good Shepherd is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I have been hired as an Assistant Director at a local school, bought my first car, and moved into an apartment of my own.

Karen J.

[Staying at Good Shepherd] I was able to accomplish saving money and focusing on my goals. Good Shepherd has helped me stay positive about my situation. I was able to go to my job with a sense of relief that I had a place to live and not in the car or at a hotel. I was able to change my whole outcome and view on life

Evelyn W.

I was able to clean up my credit report and save money with the escrow account. I met nice people in my roommates – very lovely ladies.

Sarah M.

Because of Good Shepherd I know that God is with me and ordering my steps. I think of my room at the shelter as my war room because I was able to cry out to God, to talk to God and to pray to God. God strengthened me because I waited on him, and I know that he will continue to do so.
